So I’ve seen this type of post circulating around the blogging world for the last month or so, and I’ve become really intrigued and of course I wanted to jump on the bandwagon.
The idea behind “shopping your stash” is pretty self-explanatory… you literally shop the stash of make-up that you have already! So basically make-up that you’ve bought (that’s still in date) that you’ve forgotten about or haven’t used in a while. This is a great way to save money (which I reeeally need to do at the moment ooops) and you actually can sometimes end up finding some old/new favourites.
Anyway, today I thought I’d give it a whirl and pick out a few items that I will try to use more this week and introduce into my daily make-up routine.
Here’s what I “bought” from my stash
Nars Copacabana illuminator: This was actually the first Nars product I ever purchased and I remember my insane excitement when it arrived in the post! However, true to typical Kate ways… I soon got lazy and began to neglect the highlighting aspect of my make-up routine.. so this poor little Nars product was abandoned and gradually shoved to the back of my make-up drawer. This week I plan to make a special effort in using this product to brighten up my tired (and stressed) skin.
Fearne Cotton for Boots Eye shadow palette: I actually received this as a gift a few Christmases ago and automatically fell in love with the packaging… it couldn’t be any more “me”!! It sadly became pushed to the side when I bought my coveted Naked palette but I’m ready to bring it back into my life again. Sometimes when celebrities produce their own make-up line, the quality usually lacks. This is not the case with this eye shadow palette. The colour selection is amazing and the eye shadow themselves are highly pigmented. This palette is so beautiful and I’m definitely going to use it more to create some quirky smokey eye looks!
Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in 040 Never let me go: I bought this little mini eyeshadow palette last year for Electric Picnic, just to shove in my bag and it had all the colours I could have needed for both day and night. Honestly, I thought I had lost it and I have thought about buying another one. This palette isn’t anything amazing. The colours are just basic nudes.. but they are great for creating a nice day time look or a very subtle smokey eye and it also doesn’t take up too much room in your make-up bag.
Benefit Benetint Lip Balm: If you know me at all, you’ll know that I’m a complete sucker for lip balms. I cannot and will not restrain myself when it comes to trying out any new releases. This lip balm is great as it is also a tint and has SPF 15..so it moisturises and protects your lips while giving them a slight pinky colour… a real multi-tasker in my eyes. Because, I buy and try out so many lip balms, this Benefit beauty got slightly abandoned… but it’s now safely back in my make-up bag where it belongs.
Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker lip gloss: Another cult product that ranted and raved about on beauty blogs a few years ago. When this first came out, I remember all my friends kept one in their pencil cases at school (ha) and I was no exception. This is essentially a lip plumping lip gloss with a slight tint. While short-lived, it does work to give your lips a slightly plumped up look and the colour compliments all skin tones. The only thing with this product is that I really don’t enjoy using lip gloss.. its sticky and gets everywhere..and your hair sticks to it. This week, I’m going to try to get over my lip gloss fear, bite the bullet and get my Mother pucker groove on!
Natural Collection blush in Pink Cloud: The Natural Collection blushes are hands down one of my all time favourite blushers… highly pigmented, easily blended AND cheap as chips.. you literally cannot go wrong. I have this blush in literally every single shade that’s available (as they are only 1.99 yo yos) but for some reason I’ve never actually used this shade. “Pink Cloud” is such a lovely dusky pink colour that would be so easy to wear during the day for a natural glow. Reaally looking forward to using this bad boy!
Collection 2000 Intense Colour Eyeliner in 01 Black Magic: Yet another eyeliner that I’ve bought on a whim and then shoved to the back of my make-up drawer * sigh*. I’m not too fussy when it comes to Kohl eyeliner, once it is highly pigmented and stays on my lids for a respectable amount of time… as far as I can see this eyeliner has both these qualities.. so I look forward to trying it out!
That’s all for now guys. I plan to “shop my stash” every few weeks and each time I do I’ll make sure to share my goodies with you. If any of you would like any updates/more info on the products I’ve mentioned in this post.. please let me know! Also, I’d love if you could get involved too…and hop on the “shopping your stash” bandwagon with me.. leave a link to your post below and I’ll give them a good gander! :)
Thanks for reading guys, Until next time, Bye Kx:)
